ERIC CHURCH’S “RECORD YEAR” TAPPED FOR SECOND SINGLE

ACM Entertainer of the Year Nominee Releases New Single from Mr. MisunderstoodEC John Peets3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016) – A 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards top nominee, Eric Church drops his second single “Record Year” from Mr. Misunderstood at Country radio today. The new single namechecks Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key of Life, Willie Nelson’s Red Headed Stranger, John Lee Hooker’s One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer among others from Church’s stack of vinyl. Upon the album’s surprise release last November, Rolling Stone Magazine dubbed the new single the “most moving moment” on the widely-lauded album.

Church co-wrote “Record Year” with longtime banjo player and guitarist Jeff Hyde who has previously collaborated on hits such as the three-week No. 1 “Springsteen” (along with Ryan Tyndell) from the ACM and CMA Album of the Year Chief and the anthematic Top 20 “Smoke a Little Smoke” (written by Church and Hyde alongside other bandmate Driver Williams) from 2009’s Carolina, a release that has since been pointed to as a pivotal shift in musical direction for “our greatest working rock star” (Stereogum).

With poignantly clever lyrics, “Record Year” is Church’s ode to a lost love who instead of finding solace in another’s arms, finds consolation in a three-foot stack of vinyl:

“Your leavin’ left me goin’ crazy, I’m countin’ on a needle to save me / I drop it in the groove, And we go ’round and ’round, And down in a spiral / I guess I really oughta call and thank you, I rediscovered Red Headed Stranger / Got down with old James Brown, And found New Grass Revival / If you find your way back, I owe you a beer, For my record year”

“Record Year” follows the Top 15 title track, which shipped to radio unexpectedly in conjunction with the album’s release last fall. Church recently discussed the reason behind Mr. Misunderstood’s sudden issue to ESPN’s Marty Smith: “Inspiration. And you can never pick when inspiration is going to strike,” Church simply stated. “I hate when you’re told ‘here’s where to make an album’–it doesn’t work like that.” Church had initially revealed in a letter to his fans that the inspiration for Mr. Misunderstood came from a guitar his son affectionately named “Butter Bean.” Thirty days after picking up that guitar, over 80,000 fans received the unannounced album and a note directly from Church on November 4 before it was made available everywhere for purchase later that week.

The New York Times calls Mr. Misunderstood “a love letter to his influences” noting “in his songs, music is fuel for love, for anguish and, naturally, for other music.” The Guardian calls the 10-song collection “a gem and the best album of his career.” And Rolling Stone Country raves “‘Record Year’ talks of three seminal J’s – Jennings, Jones and James Brown – who all are crucial pillars in Mr. Misunderstood’s songbook. But it’s a more subtle reference to John Lee Hooker (“one bourbon, one scotch, one beer/I’m having a record year”) that shows he’s more than comfortable being stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis — or Delta.”

Along with an Album of the Year nod for Mr. Misunderstood, Church is also up for ACM Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Video of the Year (for “Mr. Misunderstood”), and Musical Event of the Year for “Raise ‘Em Up” with Keith Urban.

About Eric Church
The two-time Country Music Association and four-time Academy of Country Music Award winner cemented his reputation as a maverick by releasing his 2015 album Mr. Misunderstood as a surprise, delivering it to fans before announcing its existence and putting it on sale. The North Carolina native received a huge response from fans who made Church 2014’s top-selling country music artist with the year’s highest debut and sales of any release in the format as the critical and commercial success The Outsiders reached Platinum status. Debuting at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and Top Country Albums chart, The Outsiders garnered GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Album of the Year nominations and featured his No.1 hits “Give Me Back My Hometown” and “Talladega” as well as multiple nominee “Like A Wrecking Ball.” The Outsiders is the follow-up to Church’s Platinum-certified CHIEF, named the 2012 Album of the Year by both CMA and ACM, and GRAMMY-nominated for Best Country Album. The LP featured five Top 20 singles: “Homeboy” (certified Platinum for sales in excess of 1 million); the Top 10 “Like Jesus Does” and the Top 5 “Creepin’” (both certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000); and two No. 1 hits “Drink in My Hand” (certified Platinum) and “Springsteen” (certified Double Platinum for sales in excess of 2 million singles). Church’s 2006 debut album, Sinners Like Me and his sophomore album Carolina (2009) are both RIAA Gold certified.

Kenny Chesney Drops “Save It For A Rainy Day”

Most Added Single 1st Week Follows Big Revival’s Three Consecutive No. 1sKENNY_announce post

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 6, 2015) — Having gone three-for-three with No. 1 singles from The Big Revival, Kenny Chesney knew he wanted his next single to do some very specific things. After the multi-week, GRAMMY-nominated “American Kids” – with its double hook and three different rhythms, the rocking invitation to live completely “Til It’s Gone” and his female positive ballad “Wild Child” – featuring Grace Potter, the focus was life-affirming reality embodied with summer’s freewheeling feeling.

“It’s a hard choice,” says the songwriter and 8-time Entertainer of the Year, “because there’s a lot of songs on this record I think would sound great on the radio, that speak to the No Shoes Nation…. But ‘Save It For A Rainy Day’ we can all use. The idea is, why lose another beautiful day over something out of our control? Whatever it is, a girlfriend leaving, a crummy boss, something else, the reality is pretty simple: they don’t care that they’re ruining your day. And they’re not, you are! It’s your choice how you’re going to feel… a lot more than any of us realize.”

“Save It For A Rainy Day,” written by Andrew Dorff, Matt Ramsey and Brad Tursi, is a mid-tempo picking up where trouble recedes. Its chiming acoustic guitar and a loping beat is vintage Chesney, whose warm-voiced, intimate, yet resolved. After confessing, “I was stuck in a habit of wondering what happened/ Too busy taking all the blame” and a B-3 swirls up from the mix, he assesses the larger reality: “The sun’s too bright, the sky’s too blue/ beer’s too cold to be thinking about you/ Gonna take this heartbreak and tuck it away/ Save it for a rainy day…”ken-793x526

“We all go through stuff,” Chesney laughs. “And you know, you can get so caught up in what I did wrong, or trying to take the blame, and you start missing out on everything else… We all make mistakes, we all screw up, but we’re also – I think most of us – good people trying to do right, and have some fun while we’re here! Friends, family, the moments, that’s the stuff that’s so easy to miss, and this song makes it so easy to figure out.”

Chesney sold over a million tickets before ever playing the first note on his current The Big Revival 2015 Tour – and with 22 stadiums over the summer, it may well be the only Country Artist on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years biggest tour ever. Breaking his own attendance records in Pittsburgh and Green Bay, as well as gearing up for two night at Minneapolis’ Target Field July 18-19 and Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium August 28-29, the crowd connection has gone to a whole new level, prompting The Dallas Morning News to tag him, “Two parts Mick Jagger, one part Bruce Springsteen, one part Billy Graham.”

Thirteen years into headlining, the man The Wall Street Journal deemed “The King of the Road” got there by paying attention to the fans. Beyond the No Shoes Nation, the largest group of supporters who spend their summers crisscrossing America and following the tour, there are those people who find their lives in the songs that have become Chesney’s 27 No. 1s – and a whole lot that of others that got close.

With shows at Cleveland’s Q on July 9 and a massive play at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field — being documented for a special report on an upcoming Good Morning America – July 11, Chesney isn’t saving anything for a rainy day! He will be the first country act to headline Pasadena’s Rose Bowl July 25, as well as Denver’s Sports Authority Field at Mile High August 8, East Rutherford, NJ’s Met Life Stadium August 15 and Detroit’s Ford Field August 22.

OLD DOMINION SET TO PREMIERE MUSIC VIDEO FOR “BREAK UP WITH HIM” EXCLUSIVELY ON CMT WEDNESDAY, JULY 8

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Monday, July 6) –RCA Records Nashville’s own Old Dominion will premiere their first-ever major label music video for their song “Break Up With Him” via CMT this Wednesday, July 8. In addition to its TV debut, the video can be viewed on demand across all CMT digital platforms including OldDominion.CMT.com, CMT Pure and the CMT Artists app.old dominion

The thematic music video was shot in Nashville, TN during the annual CMA Music Festival in June and was directed by the aptly titled, Director Steve.  The what-everyone-will-be-talking-about video showcases the humor and cleverness that the five band members of Old Dominion possess. The band members gave their fans a preview of what’s to come in a trailer for the upcoming video. View it by clicking HERE.

“We came up with the idea for the Back to the Future video when we had a long ride from West Virginia all the way to San Francisco,” Matthew Ramsey tells Country Weekly. “It was a long radio tour trip, and on our stops we knew we had a video coming up and we wanted to talk about it, so we were sitting by the pool coming up with all these crazy ideas, and somebody said something like, ‘I don’t know if people are gonna get that,’ and one guy goes, ‘Your kids are gonna love it.’ Which is a catchphrase from the movie, and that just sparked us down this road.”

Old Dominion is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their debut album set to release via RCA Records Nashville late 2015. The untitled album comes on the heels of the gut-punch self-titled EP, which Rolling Stone Country says is dashed with “fuzzy guitars, catchy licks and even a little rap” and features the back porch smack of the undeniable first radio single “Break Up With Him” and the bruising “Shut Me Up,” and is the product of the five-piece band, which includes singer Matthew Ramsey, lead guitarist Brad Tursi, multi-instrumentalist Trevor Rosen, bassist Geoff Sprung and drummer Whit Sellers. They’ve spent eight years honing their craft, each making a name for themselves in Nashville by penning songs for the likes of Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley and Tyler Farr. Now the band that The Tennessean describes as “a humble group of songwriters and musicians who earned their way in the music industry” is out on the road on Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival Tour for 18 stadium performances plus over 130 tour dates of their own in 2015.

Hits Home Run with 10-Year Agreement

A Florida spring tradition, the Runaway Country Music Festival is moving to Osceola’s Entertainment complex on US Hwy 192, next to Florida’s Turnpike.

Osceola Heritage Park/SMG General Manager, Robb Larson made the announcement today, “Runaway Country has grown into a destination event for fans from all over the world. We have been looking to bring a popular, established music festival like this to Osceola Heritage Park and are thrilled to have landed this. The venue is perfect for music lovers and artists alike.”

Larson continued, “We are very pleased to confirm a long-term, 10-year agreement with Runaway Country and their talented team of producers, artists and festival organizers.”

Runaway Country founder and Executive Producer, Gary McCann said, “The new festival site at OHP is just a short drive from our previous location. Music fans, vendors and sponsors will enjoy a larger concert bowl, air conditioned restrooms, shaded food courts, new facilities to host the Outer Limits and My Apartment party zones, more campsites, easy access parking and more activities throughout the weekend.”

Osceola Heritage Park boasts easy access. Located on Hwy 192, just west of the Turnpike, in Osceola County, approximately 12 miles south of the Orlando International Airport, 45 minutes from the Space Coast’s beaches.

McCann continued, “This opens the door to a larger line-up on an expanded festival site. We have always been big fans of Stage Coach in Palm Springs and successful events like Country Thunder and Country Stampede. With the support offered by Osceola County and larger footprint, we can now introduce new features, attractions and of course, more great entertainment. We are all in for a real treat.”

Runaway Country’s VP Marketing and Sponsorships Doug Baker added, “The amenities for fans are unmatched, including a green, dust-free concert bowl. Sponsors and vendors have told us they love the new facilities. We are looking forward to showing off our new home.”

McCann added, “It was important to keep the festival as close as possible to its roots. A wonderful combination of fans and sponsors built Runaway Country into one of the premier music events in the country. We are grateful for the hospitality and support provided by Wickham Park staff over the past 5 years and of course the great folks involved with the Space Coast’s tourism industry. The time has come to showcase country music’s hottest stars in a new venue just 40 minutes west.”

Larson concluded, “We have everything needed to deliver the ultimate fan experience in what we believe is the perfect venue for a Festival here at OHP. The weather is great, refreshments are on ice and we can’t wait for March!”

Current reserved seating and campsite ticket holders will receive renewal notices for the 2016 event within the next couple of weeks. Tickets are expected to go on sale in early June.

Runaway Country weekend includes non-stop music, shopping, dining, backstage meet & greets, contests and more Friday March 18 through Sunday, March 20th, 2016.
